It is a long-established site and it covers the whole world — tens of thousands of locations across every coast, where we cover 71 places in Florida and nothing else. If you fish anywhere outside this state, that difference alone settles it.

• Worldwide coverage — if you travel to fish, we are simply no use to you outside Florida.
• Solunar and fish-activity ratings, the major/minor feeding periods. This is their signature feature and we have nothing equivalent.
• Tidal coefficient, a single number for how much water is moving on a given day. Genuinely useful, and we don't publish it.

We only do one coast, which is the whole reason we can go deeper on it. Tides are the starting point here, not the product.

• No advertising anywhere. Not a banner, not a video roll, nothing between you and the tide chart.
• Live weather radar, which tides4fishing doesn't offer. On this coast in summer that is the single most useful thing on the screen.
• Red tide status from the FWC's own water samples, per beach — including whether the wind is actually blowing a bloom ashore. Nobody else pairs those two.
• 52 live beach cameras, so you can look at the water before you drive to it.
• Water temperature with three years of monthly averages, so today's reading means something.
• An Atlantic hurricane tracker mirroring the National Hurricane Center.
• No account, ever. Nothing is gated, and there is no paid tier to upgrade to.

Why is this one free?

Because it costs very little to run and nobody is trying to make a living from it. The tide predictions come from NOAA, the red tide samples from the FWC, the forecast models from Open-Meteo — all public data, free to use. There is no ad network to feed, no subscription to sell and no reason to put anything between you and the number you came for.

It was built for one stretch of coast by somebody who fishes it. That is the whole business model.

Common questions

Is Salty Forecast a free alternative to tides4fishing?

For Florida, yes. It gives high and low tide times for 67 Florida locations with no ads, no account and no paid tier, alongside radar, red tide status, water temperature and live beach cameras. Outside Florida it covers nothing, so tides4fishing remains the better choice there.

Does Salty Forecast have solunar or fish activity ratings?

No. Solunar tables and major/minor feeding periods are tides4fishing's signature feature and there is no equivalent here. If you plan your trips around solunar periods, keep using them for that.

Where does the tide data come from?

Tide predictions come from NOAA CO-OPS stations — the same official US source the other tide sites draw on. Each of the 71 location pages names the specific station its predictions come from.

Are there really no ads?

None. No banners, no video rolls, no sponsored content, no affiliate links and no tracking sold to anyone. There is also no premium tier, so nothing is held back.

Is Salty Forecast connected to tides4fishing?

No. They are entirely separate products with no affiliation. This page compares them because people searching for tides4fishing in Florida towns deserve to know what the alternatives actually do and do not offer.
