Fishing Lake Sinclair
Dock brush is most of the game on Sinclair. This is a Georgia Power lake on the Oconee below Milledgeville, and it fishes like the lowland reservoir it is — shallower, warmer, and stained more often than the lakes upstate. Boat docks line nearly every cove, and the brush sunk beneath them holds largemouth and crappie almost year-round, while catfish and bream work the flats and the river channel edges. Warm water means a long growing season and a spring bite that starts earlier here than it does farther north. Summer weekends belong to the ski boats and pontoons by mid-morning, but the lake empties out in the cold months, and that quiet stretch is when it fishes best.
Target species
- Largemouth bass
- Crappie
- Channel catfish
- Bluegill
Local tip: No tide — track generation and heat instead. Current pulled through the lake sharpens the bite, summer means first light or nothing, and a mild winter afternoon can be the most comfortable fishing of the year.
