About Key West
The concrete buoy at Whitehead and South Street marks the southernmost point in the continental United States — 90 miles to Cuba — and there is very nearly always a queue of people waiting to photograph it. The camera watches that corner, which makes it both a weather view and an honest crowd meter: on a cruise-ship day the line runs down the block, and on a wet August morning there is nobody there at all. The Atlantic is directly behind it.
