The water at New Smyrna Beach
New Smyrna Beach sits at the top of Mosquito Lagoon, the shallow, grass-floored estuary that made Florida's redfish reputation. Tailing reds and gator trout work the flats on the inside, snook and tarpon push up through Ponce Inlet in summer, and the beach out front is a solid pompano and whiting surf.
