About Cedar Key
Cedar Key is an island town of clapboard buildings, clam farms and no chain stores, sitting at the edge of a scatter of outer keys and oyster bars on the Big Bend. Dock Street is the waterfront — stilted buildings out over the water, looking west across the shallows toward the outer islands and some of the best sunsets on the Gulf coast. This is skinny water for miles in every direction, so wind direction rules everything here: a hard easterly can pull the flats down to nothing.
