About Destin East Pass
East Pass is the only gap between Choctawhatchee Bay and the Gulf for many miles, and every charter boat, pontoon and fish that moves between the two goes through it. This camera sits on the Destin side and looks up the pass to the William T. Marler Bridge that carries US 98 across it, with the east jetty and the sheltered beach inside it in the foreground. Crab Island, the sandbar where boats raft up on summer weekends, lies just inside the bridge. The deep blue channel against the pale shallows makes the current easy to read here, and when the Gulf is rough you can watch it stand up against an outgoing tide.
What this camera is good for
- Whether the pass is runnable or standing up
- Boat traffic in and out under the bridge
- Water color in the channel against the shallows
- Weather coming down the bay or in off the Gulf
A flat pass at slack tide can turn rough fast once the current runs against the swell — check the tide and wind below before you go out.

Common questions
- Is the Destin East Pass camera live?
- Yes, it is a live stream running 24 hours a day. If it looks dark, it is night at the camera.
- Does it cost anything to watch?
- No. Salty Forecast is completely free — no ads, no account, no paid tier, and nothing on this page is behind a sign-up.
- What are the tides at Destin today?
- Today's high and low tide times for Destin are on the tide chart page, drawn from the NOAA station at East Pass (Destin). Tide state changes what the beach looks like on camera — at low water the beach is at its widest.
- Why does the camera look hazy or dark?
- Live cameras sit outdoors: rain on the lens, salt spray, fog and low light all affect the picture. Night views are lit only by whatever is nearby. If the feed is down entirely, that is the operator's camera rather than this page — the conditions above still update.
