Fishing Ponce Inlet
Ponce Inlet is the drain for Mosquito Lagoon and the Halifax River, and everything moving between that huge estuary and the Atlantic has to pass between its jetties. That makes it a magnet: bull redfish and black drum on the rocks, flounder in the sand cuts, tarpon and snook in the warm months, and a steady flounder run through fall. It's also a genuinely dangerous inlet when wind opposes tide.
Target species
- Redfish
- Flounder
- Spotted seatrout
- Tarpon
Local tip: The strongest tides fish best but run the roughest — an outgoing against an east wind stands the inlet up.
