* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents.
* WHERE...Beaches of Volusia, Indian River, Saint Lucie, Martin, and Brevard Counties.
* WHEN...Through late Monday night.
* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and signs.
Entering the surf is strongly discouraged. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

Fishing Sebastian Inlet
Sebastian Inlet cuts the barrier island between the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic, and its north jetty is legendary — the snook fishing off those rocks is as good as land-based fishing gets in Florida. Redfish, jacks, Spanish mackerel, and tarpon all run the inlet, and the lagoon side holds trout and reds over grass. The state park on both sides keeps access open and the water fishable.
