The water at Perdido Key
Perdido Key is the last barrier island before Alabama, a thin strip of dazzling white quartz sand with the Gulf on one side and Old River and Big Lagoon on the other. Trout and redfish work the grass and dock lines inside, pompano and whiting run the surf trough, and the jetties at Perdido Pass concentrate everything that moves through. King mackerel and cobia show up on the nearshore reefs and wrecks in spring and fall.
