About Pensacola Beach
Pensacola Beach sits in the middle of Santa Rosa Island with national seashore running out of town in both directions, and it packs three different waters into a very small area: open Gulf out front, Pensacola Pass at the west end, and the flat green shallows of Santa Rosa Sound behind. The sand is the whitest in Florida — ground-down Appalachian quartz that squeaks underfoot and stays cool in August. The Gulf Fishing Pier reaches far enough out to touch king mackerel and, in spring, the cobia migration.
