About Waveland Beach
West of Old Town Bay St. Louis, Beach Boulevard and its sand beach run on along the Mississippi Sound through Waveland toward the county line. This camera looks northeast up that shoreline from the Silver Slipper, so most of the frame is the Sound itself, with the curve of the beach and the tree line beyond. The water here is shallow and usually brown-green with marsh runoff, and a south wind pushes it straight at the shore. Waveland took the worst of Hurricane Katrina's surge in 2005, which is exactly why a view of where the water meets the sand is worth having when a storm is in the Gulf.
What this camera is good for
- Water level against the beach in a south wind
- Whitecaps and chop on the Sound
- Squalls moving in from the south
- Sunrise over the water

Common questions
- Is the Waveland Beach camera live?
- Yes, it is a live stream running 24 hours a day. If it looks dark, it is night at the camera.
- Does it cost anything to watch?
- No. Salty Forecast is completely free — no ads, no account, no paid tier, and nothing on this page is behind a sign-up.
- What are the tides at Bay St. Louis today?
- Today's high and low tide times for Bay St. Louis are on the tide chart page, drawn from the NOAA station at St. Louis Bay entrance. Tide state changes what the beach looks like on camera — at low water the beach is at its widest.
- Why does the camera look hazy or dark?
- Live cameras sit outdoors: rain on the lens, salt spray, fog and low light all affect the picture. Night views are lit only by whatever is nearby. If the feed is down entirely, that is the operator's camera rather than this page — the conditions above still update.
