About Mobile Bay

The USS Alabama has been a museum ship at Battleship Memorial Park since 1965, berthed on the Causeway where the head of Mobile Bay meets the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. From up on the ship this camera looks across the Causeway and the I-10 Bayway to the open bay, with the Eastern Shore beyond. The Causeway runs only a few feet above the water, so it is one of the first roads around the bay to flood when a south wind or a storm piles water up the bay. That makes this view less about scenery and more about a plain question: is the water over the road?

Common questions

Is the Mobile Bay camera live?
Yes, it is a live stream running 24 hours a day. If it looks dark, it is night at the camera.
Does it cost anything to watch?
No. Salty Forecast is completely free — no ads, no account, no paid tier, and nothing on this page is behind a sign-up.
What are the tides at Mobile today?
Today's high and low tide times for Mobile are on the tide chart page, drawn from the NOAA station at Mobile, Mobile River. Tide state changes what the beach looks like on camera — at low water the beach is at its widest.
Why does the camera look hazy or dark?
Live cameras sit outdoors: rain on the lens, salt spray, fog and low light all affect the picture. Night views are lit only by whatever is nearby. If the feed is down entirely, that is the operator's camera rather than this page — the conditions above still update.
