About Jupiter Inlet
Jupiter Inlet has the shortest run to the Gulf Stream on this coast — sailfish, mahi and blackfin are minutes outside the jetties — and the red 1860 lighthouse standing over it is the landmark for the whole area. Inside, the inlet and the Loxahatchee River are a serious snook and tarpon fishery, and the water runs clear enough here that you can often watch fish eat, which is rare anywhere in Florida. The inlet shoals and the current runs hard, so local knowledge counts on the way out.
