About South Beach
South Beach is the south end of Miami Beach, where the Art Deco strip along Ocean Drive backs onto the widest sand in the county. Government Cut, the deep ship channel into Biscayne Bay, is a mile south, and its jetties are one of the best-known tarpon and snook spots in the country — big fish in fast, clear water in the middle of a city. Blue water is a couple of miles off the sand, and Biscayne Bay's bonefish and permit flats start immediately behind the island.
